The International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame is HFTP’s highest level of recognition in the area of technology. Since 1989, 45 individuals have received this award as a reflection of their contributions to the hospitality industry. Chary was nominated and selected by their peers for representing the best in innovation and application, and for being leaders in their profession.
In 1996 Chary and his partner Sherry Marek co-founded Datavision Technologies, Inc. The partners have spent their careers solving a problem they noted early on, at a time when hotels still struggled with basic reporting. They recognized the need to automate data collection, and thus the Datavision Business Intelligence system was created. The system’s ability to produce visually striking graphical dashboards meant that department heads could quickly assess their performance without digging through reams of paper. Today, Datavision continues to further the idea of true BI by combining hotel information with other data sources such as weather, social media, comp set information, web analytics, guest surveys, etc. while incorporating self-service BI and machine learning.
