Collective Retreats, an experiential travel company that develops and operates luxury retreats in special and often secluded locations, announced today that it has retained investment banking firm RobertDouglas to structure a programmatic joint venture with a qualified real estate capital partner best suited to achieve its growth objectives via acquisitions and development opportunities.
“We chose to work with RobertDouglas, in part, because of the organization’s rich transactional experience and notable accomplishments in raising real estate investment capital in the hospitality space,” said Collective Retreats Founder & CEO Peter Mack, in today’s announcement. “The fact that the group has also helped propel the growth of other early stage firms specializing in experiential lodging demonstrates that they understand our strategic vision for the brand and guest experience alongside the tremendous potential of this rapidly growing market segment.”
Mack is a graduate of Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration and spent a decade with Starwood Hotels & Resorts, cultivating brands like Westin, W Hotels and St. Regis, and also worked with the Tough Mudder experiential event series. He launched Collective Retreats in 2015 with the vision of creating a luxurious outdoor lodging experience that didn’t intrude upon its settings, but rather shared and connected to its collective simplicity, beauty and tranquility — a celebration of a unique space. Current Collective Retreats locations include Vail, Colorado; Yellowstone, Montana; Husdon, New York; Hill Country, Texas; Governors Island, New York.
“In a short time, Peter and his team have been able to create and define, as both an investment and as an experience, their own category of lodging; an extremely difficult feat,” said RobertDouglas Principal & Managing Director Rob Stiles. “Collective Retreats is a one-of-a-kind luxury experience, sustained by an unwavering vision and outstanding execution of the concept.”
In the four years since its founding, Collective Retreats has already earned widespread industry and consumer praise for the overall guest experience and top of the line guest offerings, which encompasses stunning settings, respect for the environment, locally-sourced gourmet dining and luxury grade interior design and service. Each tent includes 1,500 thread count sheets, chandeliers, WiFi and a bathroom with hot showers.
Collective Retreats recently announced their newest product, the Outlook Shelter, a custom-built 300-sq. ft. modular outdoor luxury hotel room set to premiere at Collective Governors Island later this summer. The accommodations will augment the company’s current Summit and Journey Tent offerings and signals strategic growth for Collective as they expand into non-tented room types.
“Collective Retreats has always operated with the mission of pushing the boundaries and traditional notions of a hotel by creating personalized and transformative travel experiences that generate life changing memories and guide our guests on their own journey toward personal fulfillment,” Mack adds.
